Note: A poem about anchoring yourself – in Jesus.
Tie yourself to the ship
Tie yourself to the ship
And though the storm is around
You
Will have your anchor
Tie yourself to the ship
There, then
You can stop fearfully flailing
And ground your feet
And if you slightly slip
The cord will hold
And your feet more easily
Regained
Tie yourself to the ship
Even while
The deck
Sways
And the wind blows
And rain comes
You will have the
Secure-line tethered
To you
Tie yourself to the ship
As a choice
To take up your post
And find others
As a holy legion
To the right and to the left
As you lift your eyes
To bow and
To port
And to starboard
Just there
And find that
You are not alone
And you
Choosing to live
Have stood at the place intended for you
Tie yourself to the ship
And so declare that
You will whether the storm
Tie yourself to the ship
In a bright
Brazen
Omen of hope
That the ship
Is not doomed
But destined
For secure-harbour
Tie yourself to the ship
And while the wind
Rages
Lift your voice
In a victor’s shout
A shout
Louder than the storm
